Comments: Apparently my great grandfather's parents were Archelaus W. Reynolds and Mary Adams, daughter of Richard Adams and Mary Parker who came to Old Pendleton Dist.S.C. around 1814 from Dillon Co., S.C. with their large family. They settled in the Cane Creek area which is now Oconee County but later moved to nearby Rabun Co., Ga. just across the state line. Mary stayed in S.C. and apparently "took up" with Archelaus Reynolds, whose first wife had died about 1820. This conclusion reached because Mary Adams and "Archibald" (Archelaus) Reynolds are listed in the 1830 census of Pickens Dist., S.C. as next door neighbors.
